  • Just bought this camera tonight at HH Greg. The controls are well placed, the touchscreen is super intuitive, but the video quality is HORRIBLE, in a medium light indoor setting the picture is so grainy you’ll think you’re looking at a webcam. Taking it back when I get out of church tomorrow. Note to self: Never, Never, Never buy any camera that doesn’t say CANON on it somewhere. Going to pick up an HV200 on Amazon instead.

This might be a great camera but it does NOT support Windows XP. Took me an hour and half to get to the right tech support at Sam Sung to Admit it doesn not work. They recommend you buy Cyberlink to make it work. In a nutshell, uses a proprietary format. According to manual and basic tech support codecs and editing program supposed to load from camera via USB on Connection. However does not with XP and no work arround, no codec available for download. I was able to try it on a friends Vista, it did load but program seemed very clunky. Might be a great product if they would get the software right.

I have to write this report because one thing that really sucks. One sunday I was recording a very important event and I was using the 720/60p HD recording mode on a Samsung 4GB SDHC card.. the memory has at least 25 minutes space empty and I used the remote control to start recording…

At the end, it runs out of memory so it shut off and guess what? The whole 25 minutes were gone. What should I expect ? Shouldn’t I expect it gets as much as it was supposed to before it runs out of memory ?

So I lost that important event. I don’t care how other functions this camcorder offers; but this is a basic functionality and it fails.

In general I am NOT confident in Samsung’s flash memory camcorder product. And worse… I tried to contact [...] and through their email complaint; I couldn’t find the HMX-H100 model in their product list.

Highly NOT recommended this camcorder.. bought at Costco $299. It is going back to the warehouse…

  • This is a great camcorder…..great picture and lightweight….make sure you use the remote to get the best out of playback…..the slow speed playback is just what I needed to examine my son’s pop warner football games.

  • I bought it as a Christmas present for my wife so we could document her 1st pregnancy. She opened her gift first and thought it’d be a good idea to record the rest of the family opening their gifts. After everyone was finished with all the festivities she and I decided to upload the video and watch it on our 50″ 1080p Samsung DLP. Ugghhh… it was so grainy and the low light was HORRIBLE! I recommend doing what we did, exchanging it for a Canon VIXIA HF200.
